A Quiet Morning… Until It Wasn’t

A Quiet Morning… Until It Wasn’t

Yesterday started quietly.

Coffee on the deck. Devotions. A slow morning before the house fully woke up.

And then I walked into the laundry room.

I was instantly irritated...

You know those moments where something small suddenly feels way bigger than it should? That was me yesterday. My brain immediately started spiraling through frustration, overwhelm, annoyance, and all the things that felt unfinished or undone.

The strange part was that nothing catastrophic had even happened.

The laundry room was just… messy.

But my reaction felt so much bigger than the situation.

Later in the day, I realized I had forgotten to take my vitamins & medication for a few days.

And honestly?

That realization stopped me in my tracks.

Sometimes we’re so quick to assume we’re failing spiritually, emotionally, or mentally when in reality we’re simply exhausted, overstimulated, overwhelmed, depleted… or forgetting to care for ourselves in basic ways.

Not every hard day is a character flaw.

Sometimes we just need rest.

Sometimes we need grace.

Sometimes we need to slow down long enough to notice what’s actually going on beneath the surface.

Yesterday reminded me that self-awareness matters more than self-condemnation.

And maybe someone else needs that reminder today too. 🤍
